This castle is located on a small strip of land between the rivers Musa and Memele. The oldest part of the castle was built in the middle of the 15th Century for Heidenreich Vinke von Overberg. He led two battles against the Russians and became the Master of the Livonian Order. The newer section was built at the end of the 16th Century and was the residence of the Duke of Kurzeme.
